Q1.How did the author feel when she first set foot on Antarctic continent?         Or

Ans. The author was surprised and happy also to put her foot at the Antarctica. It was because the whole landscape was very large and spread under the blue sky. It was white ice everywhere and loneliness. No noise at all. Once India and Antarctica were united together and were the same part of a landmass. It was also surprising for her.
Q2.Why is a visit to Antarctica important to realise the effect of global warming?  2008
Ans. If we go to Antarctica, we can see the dangerous impact of the global warming there from our own eyes. Glaciers are melting down. The solid ice is becoming water there. That water is increasing the sea level. One day it may cause floods on the earth.
Q3.How can a visit to Antarctica be an enlightening experience? 2008
Ans. The visit to Antarctica is really an enlightening experience. We come to know that the changes which are taking place there will have deep effect on the other parts of the earth. Once India and Antarctica were united and they were one piece of land. We can see the effect of global warming there and can do something to stop it.

Ans. There is no doubt that Antarctica is an important issue for debate. If right efforts have not been done on time, the present shape of our globe will be changed. It will create so many dangers for the survival of us. There will be floods on the earth. Many coastal cities will be downed under water. Global warming will hit not only the human beings, but the other creatures and vegetation also. Climate is also changing due to it.

Ans. Antarctica has a large spread of white ice. There are big glaciers there. But a brightness and deep silence prevails there. There are no human beings and other creatures except white bears living at Antarctica. Sometimes the sound coming from breaking of an iceberg and avalanche is heard there. In summer the sun shines for twenty four hours at Antarctica.

Ans. The objective was clear and very great indeed. The visit was enlightening for them. They could come to know how the future of the planet earth depended on the changes at Antarctica. Thus they received the first hand knowledge about global warming and its dangerous impact on the earth. They are the future policy makers and would surely do something useful to save the planet earth.

Ans. The reason for the success of the programme ‘Students on Ice’ was that they became aware of the coming dangers on the earth. They saw from their own eyes that the glaciers were melting fast because of air pollution on the earth. It is also causing climatic changes on the earth. It was a firsthand knowledge received by the students there.

Ans. The future indications for mankind are clear and alarming. If global warming continues, all the islands and coastal areas will be under water one day. The slow change in climate of the earth will pose danger to the life of living beings. It will affect all on the earth. Life on the earth may become a matter of the past.

Ans. Antarctica and its understanding is very much important for us. The future of our planet earth is in great danger. If global warming continues, all the islands and coastal areas will be under water one day. The slow change in climate of the earth will pose danger to the life of living beings. It will affect all on the earth. Life on the earth may become a matter of the past.

It helps us to know that in past some dangerous changes took place and the continent of Antarctica was separated. It can be studied how other continents took place. Ans. Man has created so many problems for the survival of all the creatures including himself on the earth. He has disturbed the eco-system. Forests are being cut recklessly.
